T-Pups looking swell. Took in the second half televisionally tonight (even though my excellent sister-in-law Natalie threw ticks my way--had to teach, tho, dammit), and I was impressed with the deep rotation of Coach A, the inspired play of the bench, the second-half resilience of the Wolves, the sterling tenants of team play being habitually exercised. Big Pek looking especially strong, flexing all over the undermatched Magics.
Boy are the Magics an uninteresting team. Etwaun Moore starting at the point? Some Vucevic galoot I've never heard of from Pek's homeland of Montenegro starting at center? JJ Redick your leading scorer? Ugh. I know the Dwight Howard deal the last couple seasons was a thorn in the Magics's underpants, but... honestly. It doesn't seem like they tried to field much of a team down Disneyworld way.
Wolves are lucky they've got a semi-soft sched to start the season. Not many playoff contenders on the docket in the month of November. This bodes well for the team with its best two dudes out. In the meantime, I hope Minny's fourth-string PG Will Conroy enjoys his time in the NBA and gets a couple buckets here and there. He was trying so hard to score tonight but probably get jobbed by the refs on three or four different plays. Which was one of the things of note from this game. Which is why I'll stop typing now for this entry.
P.S. Luke Ridnour is hitting his shot, which is nice to see, especially from three-point land. On another note, he looks a lot like my friend Jason Ruhl, an awesome visual artist based outta Madison, Wisc., ultra-articulate movie enthusiast, and avid paperback book collector.
Below: Ridnour top left. Ruhl bottom right. In case you're confused. Because they do look alike. They both sort of move the same, too, and are equally somewhat shy-seeming. As far as I know they are not long lost brothers. Or monozygotic twins.
